Dog Park Opening June 24th–time TBA.
As a part of the master plan for Clark Field the dog park was located in a
back corner of the park without lights away from the parking lot . As one of
our members addressed, it would be safer near parking lot and with more
lights. Working with the Parks and recreation department we devised a plan
for the old tennis courts, unused for many, many years. One of our goals has
been to increase safety and bring more people to Clark Field. We have
baseball players and families in the summer and football players in the
winter, and events for children weather permitting. With the dog park we now
will have dog owners in the summer , fall, and beginning of winter.
Increasing the activity and number of people coming to the park will help to
keep it safe for everyone. The Friends of Clark Field through grants have
provided the trees, benches and trash receptacles for the park. The Friends
also agreed to maintain the dog park as a measure of park being built, along
with signing new members to help maintain park and to hold a once a year
fund raiser to continue services.
